Christine Hammill-Cregan, J.D., M.S.W., is an alum of St. Joseph’s Seminary and joins the faculty as the Associate Dean working primarily with M.A. students on the Douglaston and Huntington campuses as well as on assessment and accreditation. After completing her M.A. in Theology, Christine worked as the Associate Director of the Vincentian Center for Church and Society at St. John’s University and taught in the International Communication masters program. She
had previously worked in higher education as an administrator and faculty member, was an international human rights attorney as well as a mediator and social worker in connection with Family Court.
Christine worked at Siena College in the College Counsel’s Office on employee relations and discrimination issues, including Title IX. She was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on interpersonal conflict and mediation. She also taught international relations at the University of Education in Ghana and in the Dispute Resolution Program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. She was an attorney for the United Nations in Geneva focusing on child labor and for the American Bar Association (CEELI) in Tajikistan managing a human rights and rule of law program. She also mediated family disputes in the New York City Family Courts and worked as a social worker on family issues. Christine began her career teaching Global Studies at Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead followed by a year teaching English in Japan. Christine earned a J.D. and M.S.W. from Washington University in St. Louis, an M.A. in Theology from St. Joseph’s Seminary and a B.A. in Education from Providence College.
