St. Joseph's Seminary offers a graduate theological program to qualified candidates for the permanent diaconate, lay men and women, men and women in consecrated life, and clergy who wish to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith through systematic study, or who are called to serve the Church in roles of leadership. 

St. Joseph's offers two master's degree programs: Master of Arts in Theology and Master of Arts in Catholic Philosophical Studies. In addition, the Seminary offers two Post-master's Certificates: Sacred Scripture and Dogmatic Theology, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Theology.  Qualified auditors and non-degree students are welcome.

St. Joseph's Seminary Masters Program

St. Joseph's Seminary was founded in 1896 for the formation of men for the priesthood. Since 1977, St. Joseph's Seminary has offiered degrees to lay men and women, men and women in consecrated life, and clergy for the purpose of preparing future Catholic leaders. To fulfill this vision, the Institute of Religious Studies was established in 1993 to offer the Master of Arts in Religious Studies and two Post-Masters Certificates. Over seven hundred students have earned a master's degree from St. Joseph's, many of whom continue to serve the Church in their parish, school, and catechetical ministry.

 In the fall of 2011, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, and Bishop William Murphy agreed to collaborate in the education and formation of seminarians and lay leaders in the Catholic Church. Therefore, new graduate programs have been introduced. St. Joseph's Seminary builds on its rich tradition and now offers a Master of Arts in Theology, a Master of Arts in Catholic Philosophical Studies, two Post-Masters or Graduate Certificates in Sacred Scripture and Dogmatic Theology, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Theology. Classes are held at the main campus of St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers, as well as at the Long Island extension site / additional location of the Seminary of Immaculate Conception in Huntington, where both programs have been well established. We also offer classes at the Seminary House of Formation in Douglaston. Every site is equipped with video technology to link classes across our four locations in addition to the traditional face to face classes.
